Our Story

At Knit Together, we are a team of knitters & writers spreading joy through knitting adorable hats and writing story snapshots. The companion stories center around objects featuring the colors of the hats and focus on possible future experiences that new moms can enjoy with their little ones. We feel that sometimes, we have to look ahead to feel better about our current difficulties. It's not that we make light of mental illness, but we wanted to start finding a solution by beginning with a spark of joy that will lead to other sparks and uplift the spirit. We are driven to action after experiencing the loss of a teammate to suicide and want to do our part to alleviate pain in our chosen-focus group, women suffering from postpartum depression. We have donated 200 hats & story pairings to hospitals in Allen (a suburb of Dallas), Austin, Houston, and Waco, but we aren't done and hope to touch moms in other cities and, ultimately, internationally. What started as a school project blossomed into a movement. We hope you will join us by purchasing one of our knitted-hat story pairings and gift it to a new mom.
